The Denver Church Annual Meeting Church Sanctuary Everyone is invited to attend our annual Church business meeting following the Sunday Celebration on the third Sunday of July. During the meeting we will report on the “business” of the church, elect new members to our Board of Trustees, approve the 2008-2009 church budget, and answer any questions. Attendance is open to all, although only church members may vote. The fiscal year from July 2007 to June 2008 was a very active time. We completed the Children’s Church playground, our Peace Garden, and much of the landscaping in front of our Sanctuary building. In October, we enjoyed our 1080 Celebration–the 10th anniversary of the Denver Church and the 80th birthday of our dear Rev. Barb. Some very special guests came to vis¬it us, including the controversial Bishop Carlton Pearson, Anthony Chavez and Rev. Rainbow Johnson. In addition, we welcomed a number of guest musicians including Phil Jones (who taught us to play the Australian didgeridoo), Dwain Briggs and Michael Gott, along with Lori Sandstrom and the award winning Robert Anderson of Devotion. And who could forget the “return” of Gram¬my Award winning Jana Stanfield? For ten weeks, we studied and explored A New Earth as part of Oprah Winfrey and author Eckhart Tolle’s ground-breaking worldwide teleclass. And we watched some great new movies as part of our Cinema of the Soul series. The upcoming year promises to be filled with excitement and new opportunities as the city of Denver hosts the 2008 Democratic National Convention next month. In addition, our United Church of Religious Science (UCRS)/United Centers For Spiritual Living (UCSL) home office will be relocating to the Denver area from California by the end of 2008. We “Plan To Expand” and bring our special, loving, inclusive and healing message to more and more people in our neighborhood, our city, our state and beyond. We want to serve you and others in powerful new ways with open doors and open hearts. Please plan on joining us at this year’s Annual Meeting with your ideas, your commitment and your presence. |
