Back to Basics…Forward with New Thought
As we move into this exciting new year together, The Denver
Church is creating some of the most exciting, inspiring, and empowering
new programs and classes we’ve ever offered. These programs will assist
you in making 2008 your year of life changing and empowering growth–the
kind that will last a lifetime. Please join us for all of these
activities designed just for you!
Starting January 6th we’ll be going
Back to Basics. Our Sunday topics for the first three weeks
in January will cover the basic teachings of the Science of Mind,
created by Dr. Ernest Holmes. There is no better way for you, and your
family or friends, to start your life journey than to review where it
all started, the very foundation of contemporary spiritual metaphysics
and the New Thought teachings still relevant today.
On Sunday, January 27th, we will embark on a new
Adventure in Faith program based
on Barry Heermann’s book, Noble Purpose; Igniting Extraordinary
Passion for Life and Work. Dr. Heermann writes: “Without meaning it
is very difficult to summon forth purpose, and without purpose what is
dear lives only as an inner murmur. The wherewithal to bring Noble
Purpose to fruition lives within each of us, waiting to be revealed and
released. To be infused with meaning calls forth purpose. While meaning
has you come alive; purpose requires direction of your energy to the
realization of some contribution to others.” This six-week program will
bring together the spiritual understanding of the ages and assist us in
creating purpose and meaning in our lives as we bring new meaning to
every day of 2008.
But that’s not all!
During the six weeks of “Noble Purpose”, the format of our traditional
Wisdom on Wednesdays (W.O.W.) service will change to a mid-week
Adventure in Faith study/discussion group. With sharing ideas,
empowering exercises and deepening processes, we’ll use this time to
help embody this new knowledge into our everyday lives. There is no
charge to attend the study group or for the materials, because we want
everyone to participate. (Weekly love offerings will be gratefully
accepted, so that we may offer similar programs in the future.) If you
plan on attending the Wednesday discussion group, we do ask that you
register by Sunday, January 27th so we can make sure we have adequate
handout materials available and accommodate everyone’s needs.
New Foundations
The last of our special new programs is perhaps the most exciting of
them all! After years of development and research by its Department of
Education, the United Centers for Spiritual Living introduced a totally
new and extensively rewritten “Foundations of the Science of Mind” class
in November 2007. This is the first totally new Foundations course in
decades (since even before The Denver Church was founded) and our
upcoming January class will be the first time this new curriculum will
be taught in Denver. Written by Dr. Christian Sorensen, the new
“Foundations” course includes the wisdom of the ages, materials by Dr.
Ernest Holmes, and contributions by authors such as Joel Goldsmith,
Louise Hay, Michael Beckwith, Eric Butterworth and over a dozen other
respected spiritual leaders. It promises to be the most comprehensive
and up-to-date study in spiritual metaphysics available today.
The special $195.00 introductory tuition includes your own 227-page
student workbook, 10 weeks (30 hours) of class work and a 3-1/2 hour
Saturday workshop. This reduced rate is being made available to the
community and those within our church so that those who have never taken
the class, as well as those who may have taken the previous Foundations
curriculum, may experience the latest available teachings. Students will
need a copy of The Science of Mind, by Dr. Ernest Holmes, which
is available at a reduced rate at the church bookstore. It’s also
available through The Tattered Cover Bookstore, Barnes & Noble, Walden
Books and other booksellers everywhere.
Our new Foundations class begins on Thursday, January 31st. Students
should register by Sunday, January 20th to ensure that there are enough
workbooks and materials available for everyone. Payment may be made on
the first day of class by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard.
This is just the beginning...
Be sure to read your Divine Times for the latest activities, new
classes, workshops, and even unique travel programs, in the months to
come. As we empower each other, all our lives benefit. The community we
live in will benefit from what we are doing in our lives and in the
lives of others.
