We Are Dancing With God Standing on the leading edge of creation can sometimes be difficult. To commit to change, growth, expansion and renewal means committing more of our time and many of our unique talents, as well as greater financial resources to the total unknown. For many, our natural reaction is to resist change and seek safety, sometimes even step backwards, into old and predictable patterns. The known may not be fulfilling or successful, but at least we think we know the outcome. But do we? In reality, we end up living a life void of purpose and lacking excitement, and feeling left behind. Why? Because life doesn’t work that way. Our teaching has always been about learning to dance with God—moving with God’s divine intelligence and co-creating with God’s unlimited potentiality which brings into form a dynamic, exciting, loving, joyful, and wondrous world for ourselves and everyone to experience. Never before has a community been so willing to join the dance with creation as we are at this moment in time. It is as if we are all joining in a chorus saying “YES!” to God’s lead. But it isn’t without pain or challenge. It isn’t easy to let go of our predictable old way of doing things, our old way of thinking, or our idea of what it should look like; sometimes even bringing with it the fear that we are doing it alone or all wrong. Letting go of the judgment and anger over the missteps that we, or others, have taken in the past can also be difficult. It can be difficult to let go and let God take the lead, especially when we think it is our money, our lives, our being that we are committing to “something” we haven’t seen yet. Most people are never willing to dance the dance. Yet, that is exactly what we are doing. And in doing so, we are demonstrating and becoming the “way-showers” for others to see God’s presence all around us. In January, an unprecedented number of our congregation came together for “Create The Slate in 2008.” This meeting was an opportunity to share fresh new ideas, bring new commitment, and empower our community in a way never seen before at The Denver Church. There was a willingness to face change, something rarely experienced on any level by any group of people; and it was done honestly and without judgment, with an openness to the power of Divine Creation. Registration for the totally new “Foundations” class (completed and released just two months ago by the United Centers for Spiritual Living Department of Education) is creating one of the largest certificated classes we have taught in the history of our church. This is a demonstration of our commitment, as individuals, to bringing a new level of spiritual understanding into our lives. It is a demonstration of our connection with God, as well as our desire to learn more, and be more as individuals, as we strive to understand the dance, and take the unknown next step with creation. The huge number of participants in the “Noble Purpose” program is another demonstration of our commitment to the role we each play in the dance and to making the most of our lives. It shows the role we each play in the unfolding collective purpose of the world around us. We are just taking the first steps of a new dance. Each of us has committed our lives, our energy, our finances, our hearts, and our time to this spiritual community we have created. There is a new power in what we are doing because we know it all to be God. We are opening up to magnificence God has provided—excited to be a part of the dance, and opening up to God’s lead. |
