Demonstrating What We Teach

The Denver Church Annual Yard Sale
Friday, May 16th and Saturday, May 17th

On Friday, May 16th and Saturday, May 17th, our Church will host its annual Yard Sale here at the Emerson Center. This annual event is one of the largest charity yard sales in Capitol Hill. It is also one of the ways we demonstrate our commitment to the environment and our belief in the Law of Circulation while we reach out to others to improve their lives.

The Denver Church has always strived to be environmentally responsible, from collecting old cell phones and computer toner cartridges for recycling, right down to our use of soy ink in printing this newsletter. But beyond recycling, the annual Yard Sale goes further by using circulation to reuse what we no longer need. When we recycle, we break things down to their useful elements, which still consumes energy. Reusing and circulating passes on the usefulness of an item in its present form.

We all have things we don’t use. They’re not junk, but good useful items which simply no longer serve us. It may be a piece of furniture, which no longer has a place in our home, or a gift given to us which doesn’t fit our lifestyle or needs. These are the kinds of things the church is collecting to pass on to others—items too nice to dispose of, yet left unused. How wonderful to give these possessions new life in the hands of others, while supporting our spiritual center in the process.

We have plenty of room to store your contributions before the sale. Items such as “like new” furniture and appliances, toys and hobby items, gardening and hardware supplies are welcome. We have even had automobiles donated in the past, and found new owners to value and use them.

We can also use your assistance prior to Friday (to sort and prepare the donated items for sale) and on the days of the event. And remember there’s always a need for assistance with clean up after the sale. Please call the church office at (303) 832-5206 to find out how you can support the Yard Sale and demonstrate your commitment to the environment, the community we serve, our church, and the principles we teach.
