WHAT IS RELIGIOUS SCIENCE |

| Prayer
Prayer is one of the foundations of Religious Science. Prayer, focused on the universal power of God, is the most powerful tool by which we understand the unfoldment of God in our experience. In Religious Science we utilize a scientific form of affirmative prayer called Spiritual Mind Treatment. In Treatment there are five very clear steps. In the Recognition step we comprehend and state that God is universal (omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient); then we acknowledge that we are an expression of God (Unification); in the Realization step we affirm to know the truth of God in the situation we are praying about, seeing ourselves as having already attained the perfection we are praying about; then we give thanks (Thanksgiving), an attitude of gratitude which helps remove any doubt in our mind: and lastly, we let go all our concerns and our thought to where all things are done-God (Release). In our affirmative prayer we align our thinking with the truth about God, rather than pleading, bargaining, or asking God to align with us. This is a very empowering process which brings us closer to the creative power and divinity of which we are a part. In our philosophy, we believe prayer is so important that we have members of our church who have been trained as professionals in prayer. These professionals are called Practitioners and are licensed by the central church (UCRS or RSI). Licensed Practitioners have extensive training in affirmative prayer, Spiritual Mind Treatment, and counseling techniques. Practitioners volunteer their time to do prayer for church in the Ministry of Prayer, and with congregants after services in many of our churches. They are available for one-on-one counseling, usually on a fee basis. In those sessions they assist individuals on their spiritual path, pray (or hold consciousness) for anyone who may be having difficulty or are in the middle of a major decision or challenge in life. |
There are many ways to pray.
We honor all prayer by all faiths. Any form of prayer which
brings a person closer to a realization of the very real presence of
God is beneficial to the person praying, to humankind, and all of
creation.
Love The more we realize that everything is part of the One (that which we call God), the more we experience love. Everyone we meet, everything we do, every thought we have is a part of God, and is an expression of God's love, not as something outside of ourselves, but rather as self-expression. There can be no greater love. The principles are about the mechanical operation of the universe, love is the vehicle. The more we realize that love is the energy that drives every mechanism in the universe, the more we can express our love for God, the more we love God, the more we love ourselves and others, because we are all a part of God, and the more we will love the people, challenges, and experiences we have on the journey we are on through this life. |
